Kady Malloy didn’t wait for music to arrive at her doorstep. The Katy girl with the stunning, smoky voice decided a long time ago that she wouldn’t let anything get in her way.
“I’ve never had a back-up plan, and I never will” - her signature phrase is what kept the dream alive when others advised Malloy to take up a day job, to be patient, to be realistic.
It was that drive that earned her a slot in American Idol 7’s semifinal rounds, where she missed making the top 12 by one week.
Her MySpace page has racked up 2 million profile views and song plays. Malloy is taking meetings with several labels across the country but isn’t interested in signing on the dotted line - unless she can sing and promote music her way.
She has recorded several tunes, including originals I and Unwanted, which have racked up tens of thousands of plays. There’s also her zippy cover of Cyndi Lauper’s She Bop, and Malloy co-wrote Where Are the Stars.
